Feature Latest News Our team PARTNERS Barry Lane BBS, BSc, CA Barry completed his tertiary education at Otago and Massey Universities gaining degrees in Science and Business. After working and travelling in South Africa he returned to New Zealand and joined a Chartered Accounting firm in Palmerston North. Barry moved to Rotorua and joined the Iles Casey antecedent firm in 1983. He is the Audit Services Partner and has extensive specialist audit knowledge including International Financial Reporting issues. Barry also enjoys working and assisting small to medium sized accounting clients with accounting compliance, system reviews, and general business advice. Sam Bufton BMS, CA Sam has lived in Rotorua most of his life and joined the firm in 1981 after graduating from Waikato University. He is especially interested in taxation and business operation issues, particularly how they affect small business clients. Sam likes to work with clients to help them understand their financial affairs and explore ideas to improve their business efficiency and tax position. Wayne Abbott BMS, CA Wayne has been a Chartered Accountant since 1991 and has worked in medium sized Chartered Accounting firms in both New Zealand and United Kingdom. He then moved into working for large/small public companies and government departments, including investigations for Inland Revenue. Wayne returned to the Bay of Plenty in late 2005 to start work at Iles Casey. Wayne has extensive experience with management accounting and also dealing with tax disputes. CONSULTANTS Alastair Gibson BCA, CA Alastair has been a Chartered Accountant since February 1974. After finishing his accountancy exams Alastair spent 3 years working for one of the “big 4” accounting firms in London. On his return to NZ he worked in a chartered accountancy firm, then undertook senior accounting positions in significant public companies before moving to Rotorua in 1982. Alastair has been a partner of Iles Casey or one of its antecedent firms since 1983. Alastair has strengths in financial and management advice, business and share valuations, litigation support and due diligence work. He has also been involved in many insolvency assignments. MANAGERS Mereana Corbett BMS (Hons), CA (Audit Manager) Mereana joined Iles Casey in 1995 after completing her Bachelor of Management Studies degree at the University of Waikato. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001 and has worked primarily within audit services.  Mereana has extensive experience and knowledge with Maori authorities, clubs & societies, charitable organisations, companies and other entities requiring statutory or special purpose audit services.
